Acetec is utilized for managing severe resistant psoriasis in adults and may also be prescribed for various other conditions. Acetec is classified as an oral retinoid, which is a derivative of Vitamin A. Its exact mechanism of action remains unclear.

Initial dosage: 25 to 50 mg taken orally as a single dose with food. Maintenance dosage: 25 to 50 mg per day; the dosage should be tailored to the patient's response. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. Avoid taking two doses at once.

Store Acetec capsules in a cool, dry environment at room temperature.

It is crucial to avoid pregnancy during your treatment and for at least 3 years after you stop using Acetec. The active ingredient, acitretin, can be harmful to a developing fetus.

Before beginning treatment, you must have 2 pregnancy tests and use 2 effective contraceptive methods while on Acetec.

Avoid using "minipills" (progestin-only pills) while taking Acetec, as they may not be effective. Monthly pregnancy tests are required. Do not breastfeed while taking Acetec (acitretin), as it can be excreted in breast milk. Refrain from donating blood while on Acetec and for at least 3 years after your last dose.
